The Cambridgeshire Reflexology group invited me to talk about my work and training courses, where co-ordinator Nicki Nunn provided a friendly and welcoming afternoon for all. The group meets regularly for workshops, speakers, treatment exchanges and mutual support. I was able to set up a table of training manuals, leaflets and the specialist Bowtech Ease products I supply for reflexologists and complementary therapists.
Introducing the concept of Intuition and Sound Reflexology, I explained how I had developed sensitive finger pads to help determine the quality and vibration of a reflex point when held. Some of the reflexologists had not considered this ‘point holding’ on reflex areas other than the known ones they were taught, which include the pituitary, ileo-caecal valve and the reproductive gonads.
When asked if anyone felt tingling, heat, or coolness in their hands when they were carrying out a treatment or if they had pictures or thoughts flash into their minds, some indicated they did and were often aware of tingling and other sensations in their fingers. I stressed the importance of being ‘mindful’ by empting the mind to receive information vital to the needs of their client.
I suggested the group link into ‘pairs’ or just observe by holding each other’s solar plexus reflex point and take note of the quality and vibration. The point was held lightly and everyone was quiet to concentrate on what they could feel or be aware of. For a fun way of measuring response, we used one to 10 as a gauge of vitality within the point… one being lower or relaxed and 10 being more abundant. Numbers ranged from four to eight and down again. Participants shared with each other
if these were an accurate measure.
Earlier, we discussed the use of our other senses, for example vision and the use of colours which some attendees did use with their reflexology. The group was asked if they could examine the quality and vibration on a larger scale and away from the point holding on the reflex, that of the meeting room we were seated in. They were asked to use their senses, feelings and awareness and to express their experience in one word. Descriptions included 'calming', 'soothing', 'exciting',
'light' and 'openness'.
These types of group activities are carried out in Parts 1 to 3 of my Intuition and Sound Reflexology workshops and are designed to help the reflexologist broaden and trust their intuition for enhancement of their own routine and practice. I am told these sessions are fun and inspiring! See diary dates for details and dates of workshops.
