A SHATTERED kneecap and a session of remote Bowen Therapy eventually led to Liz Treacher travelling 600 miles by train for a Module 8 training class with Helen.
From her home in Scotland, author Liz felt inspired to refresh her own Bowen skills having first qualified as a therapist over 25 years ago.
We asked Liz to share her story during a break in Helen’s Module 8, sometimes known as the practitioner’s module. It is a useful revision for therapists while also an obligatory requirement for those wishing to progress to a more advanced level of Bowen Technique.
She told us: “I needed surgery after an accident in my kitchen seriously damaged the patella. Confined to bed after the operation and having to take strong painkillers, not surprisingly led to constipation. I thought Bowen might help and was connected via Bowen Association UK to Helen, as an experienced therapist who could offer remote treatment.
“There was an immediate effect – I will leave the details to the imagination – and I was finally discharged and allowed to return home, with a rehabilitation plan. I was immobile for several weeks, making almost daily trips back to the hospital for physio and feeling quite unwell with it all. Several more remote healing sessions reduced my anxiety.
“The experience reminded me of the many benefits of Bowen and once I was fit, I decided to refresh my knowledge by attending a Module 8. Despite the long journey there was never any doubt that I would choose any other instructor but Helen,” she added.
NOTE: Liz’s story reminds us of Bowen’s potential when it comes to remote or distant healing. We’d love to hear your experience, either as a therapist or someone who has benefited from such a treatment. Please add your comment (or question) below and Helen will get back to you.
