QUALIFIED Pilates instructors have shown how incorporating Bowen therapy into their classes can help clients to better manage pain and improve their mobility.
They have told us how, in the right circumstances, the two modalities naturally complement each other – Pilates offering strength, alignment and controlled movement, while Bowen provides deep release, balance, and nervous system regulation.
Integrating Bowen offers a new layer of insight and effectiveness to their Pilates teaching. Enabling them to better understand the underlying patterns of tension and imbalance in clients and address them more holistically.
Several Pilates instructors have successfully completed Helen’s beginners’ Bowen Technique training and have seen its value when assessing clients prior to a class, or guided Pilates session.
Among them is Liza Pang who told us: “Bowen allows us to observe how the body responds – where tension releases, how posture changes, or which muscles are under or overactive. I can then design a Pilates session that meets the body exactly where it is – empowering for both myself, and the client.”
Another successful student was Ann Cruise, a Pilates instructor since 2016 who enrolled with Helen after she herself found relief from a recurring problem caused by a serious accident and exacerbated by the repetitive nature of Pilates movements.
She told us: “One of my Pilates clients was a Bowen therapist; she sorted out my problem after various other treatments had failed to make any noticeable or long-lasting difference. Learning the Bowen Technique made sense and I am so pleased I decided to do it.”
